Message from the Assistant Principal
November already!
Here we are at the cup weekend for 2024! An extra-long weekend for students, remembering that we have a report writing day curriculum day this Monday the 4th of November followed by the Melbourne Cup Day public holiday on Tuesday.
Halloween Fest
A hauntingly heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Halloween Fest last weekend. It was fantastic to see so many families and community members getting into the spirit of the event. A massive congratulations must go to Kristy and her team for all their hard work and dedication to making it such a Spooktacular event!!
150th Anniversary
Our special day is approaching very fast…Friday the 29th of November!
We would love some more volunteers to be involved in planning our day. We will be holding another planning meeting on Wednesday the 6th of November at 9 am in the office area.  Many hands make light work!
Should I stay or should I go?
Planning for the 2025 school year is in full swing! To assist us in making sure we are ready for next year, if you or anyone you know hasn’t enrolled or intends on not being a part of our school community in 2025, could you please let us know as soon as possible?
This leads me to the next point…… soon we will start the complex process of placing students into classes for 2025. We spend many hours undertaking this important work, which considers variables such as (but not limited to):
- Academic ability and performance
- Working habits (e.g. ability to work independently)
- Classroom behaviour
- Social network/friendships
- Social maturity and personality
- Special needs (e.g. siblings/twins/family members)
- Other factors such as anxiety
During this process, changes and adjustments to the proposed class groups are made over several weeks. Draft class lists are then submitted to the Leadership team for final ratification and then finally teachers are assigned to class groups. For the record, teachers do not ever pick students to be in their class, all classes are assigned by the Principal Class team (i.e. Russell, Hayley and myself) once the groups are decided.
If families have any requests for placement of children on educational grounds, please send me an email (megan.dell@education.vic.gov.au) no later than Friday 22nd November. It is an important goal that we place children in a happy and secure learning environment. Requests from previous years become dated in terms of relevance, so we will only consider information from the past twelve months.

Andy Lee at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø
At the end of Term 3, children author Andy Lee came to visit ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. He read his new book ‘Do Not Open This Book, It Stinks!’ Thanks for coming to visit Andy.
News from Year 5/6
In Literacy, our 5/6s have been learning how to write and analyse persuasive texts. In Maths, students have been learning about prime, composite, square and triangular numbers, as well as time and angles.
We have also been delving into our ‘Citizenship, Identity and Legacy’ unit for Inquiry, learning about citizenship and who we would like to be online (cyber safety).
Our sport electives have now begun, with the 5/6s participating in tennis, rock climbing and bike ed.
